This painting was a happy experiment. This is done by using very watered down acrylic and dripping it, while rotating the canvas. I then used black acrylic to do the outlines.
My name is Erica Kroon, and I am an artist. At least that is what I would classify myself as today. Growing up I always wanted to be known as the stellar athlete or the person who wins academic prizes. For some reason being know as an artist did not appeal to me. It took me coming to art school to seriously think of myself as a true artist. But it doesn't take a person going to art school for them to be an artist. I believe anyone who enjoys creating any kind of art can be an artist. That is why I am going to be an art teacher. I am excited to help shape the minds of children into believing that they are artists. Creativity is such a huge part of children's lives and it needs to be surfaced more in their lives. I myself enjoy painting the scenes in nature around me. It is remarkable how many beautiful things surround you everyday that we take for granted. I often travel and in my travels is where I find my inspiration for my paintings. I try to capture the beauty that brought me to that place through my work. I Hope that my work will inspire others.
