This image was my biggest achievement in 2008. I say this because there were many times when I put this painting away and said I was done and not finishing it. For some reason i kept coming back to this piece and eventually became determined to finish it. This was definitely a struggle for me being my largest painting that I had done on canvas at 4'x6'. This painting is titled "Cliffs of Moher". When I traveled to see these I felt like I needed to capture the enormousness and essence that these cliffs portrayed. Finishing this in december of last year, I can say that I am very happy that I decided to continue working on it.
Wow Erica, I love the atmosphere in this painting. The palette and subject, although not so much the application, reminded me right away of Gustav Courbet, you know his work? Come to think of it, the application and atmosphere remind me of one of Courbet's contemporaries I believe, Millet. O the French!
